Senator Issues Warning About TikTok

He says parents should be “very, very concerned.”

The Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Mark Warner of Virginia,  has issued a warning about the social media platform TikTok.

“TikTok is an enormous threat. It’s a threat on two levels. One, it is a massive collector of information, oftentimes of our children. They can visualize them down to your keystrokes. So if you’re a parent and you got a kid on TikTok, I would be very, very concerned,” he said.

“All of that data that your child is importing and receiving is being stored somewhere in Beijing.,” he said. “And it’s difficult to separate out TikTok from the fact that the actual engineers [here] writing the code in Beijing.

TikTok is owned by a Chinese company, and, according to Senator Warner, “TikTok, in a sense, is a broadcasting network” for the Chinese Communist Party.

Senator Warner had previously joined with Florida Senator Marco Rubio to urge the Federal Trade Commission to investigate TikTok’s data practices.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
