Representative McCarthy Going to Border

Says he’s going “to get a new update.”

U.S. Representative Kevin McCarthy of California, the House minority leader and potentially the next Speaker, announced that he will be visiting the U.S.-Mexico border Tuesday. He stated that, should he become House Speaker, he will “make [the border] bipartisan on both sides..”

He continued, “Another promise I’ll make to you – I will not allow [President Joe Biden] to ignore it. As Speaker, I’ll have the meeting there. Then make them all show and see what’s happening.”

Representative McCarthy highlighted the drug trafficking at the porous border, citing the hundreds of Americans dying each day of fentanyl poisoning. The drug is being brought by cartels from China through Mexico into the U.S.

He continued, “The next thing we’re going to do is going to make a nation that is safe. We’re going to secure our borders. We’re going to stop defunding the police and fund the police.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for Representative McCarthy as he prepares for the shift in power in the House.
  • For discernment for freshman members of Congress as they ready for service at the Capitol.
  • For the agents and officials of the U.S. Border Patrol as the seek to prevent illicit substances from entering the nation.
