Be Discerning
Information overload – details are coming at you in a faster pace than ever before. Newsmakers talk about disinformation, propaganda, and fake news. How can you know what is true? God’s Word says to be discerning. Discernment is the ability to examine a situation, apply a good dose of experience, stand back to get a perspective, and then take the appropriate steps—accept it as true or discard it as error. Ask the Lord to train you in discernment through His Holy Spirit. Jesus promised in John 16:13 that the Holy Spirit would guide you into all truth. Also, focus on being a student of the Word of God. If something does not line up with what God says, reject it! Remember, God will not have you tossed to and fro by deception. His desire for you is to be knowledgeable and have the good judgment that comes with discernment.
