Marijuana Legislation Enters House Floor This Week

The second time legalization bill has been proposed.

A bill to remove marijuana from the list of federal controlled substances will be taken up on the House floor this week, and is expected to pass. The Marijuana Opportunity, Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act proposes the legalization of cannabis, which would decriminalize the use and possession of cannabis and allow cannabis businesses to use banks and credit cards instead of being cash only. Advocates of the bill hope that the move will bolster the economy and keep money out of the hands of drug dealers.

“What we have seen is that the majority of people now realize that the war on drugs failed,” said Representative Earl Blumenauer of Oregon. “Drugs are more accessible and cheaper and more potent and dangerous. Nobody won this war, except people who were involved with the drug dealers themselves.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of Congress to be wise in their approach to marijuana legalization.
  • For House leaders as they choose the legislation to bring to the floor for a vote.
  • For Speaker Pelosi to seek the Lord’s will regarding House legislation.
