Business Coalition Opposes China Competitiveness Measure

Urges Congress to review the possibility that tariff evasion measures will increase tariffs overall.

A coalition of business groups wrote a letter to Congress on Tuesday, urging them to remove a trade measure out of the Eliminating Global Market Distortions to Protect American Jobs Act before it is finalized. The trade measure would change current anti-dumping and countervailing duty laws. The concerns raised include the possibility of China rerouting global supplies to avoid proposed tariffs.

The group also wrote that the bill would “penalize legitimate trade and contribute to the inflationary pressures on American businesses… at a time when uncertainty in the market is at an all-time high, as supply chain challenges persist, and as inflation continues to rise.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For federal legislators as they consider the competitiveness measure.
  • For wisdom for U.S. trade and business officials as they seek to maintain the nation’s global market.
