Speaker Pelosi Seeks $45 billion in New COVID Money

The amount is double what the White House sought.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said another COVID-19 stimulus package of about $45 billion will soon be considered in the House of Representatives.

“I think we need even more money than the compromise was,” she stated after $15 billion in relief funding was removed from the $1.5 trillion omnibus spending bill that passed last week.

Speaker Pelosi said the spending would have to be “offset,” but she did not specify whether it would be with spending costs or tax increases. “We don’t have it right now,” she acknowledged.

She said the package should be double what the White House has requested, despite members of her own conference supporting the removal of the $15 billion from the omnibus budget bill due to objections to recalling unused relief money from the states to offset the cost.

Negotiators from the House are working with the Senate to find acceptable offsets for the funding.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Speaker Pelosi to seek God’s guidance as she proposes additional federal spending.
  • For wisdom for negotiators in Congress as they consider the requests for more COVID funding.
