Commander, Army Sustainment Command

Brad A. Bane is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He earned a B.S. in industrial management from Gannon University, where he also received his commission in the Reserve Officer Training Corps. He also holds a master’s degree in material logistics from North Dakota State University, and national security and strategic studies, U.S. Naval War College. 

He served as a platoon leader, adjutant, and movement control commander, with the 45th Corps Support Group out of Hawaii.  He later supported Operation Enduring Freedom I and IV. He served as the brigade liaison officer in the U.S. Southern Command headquarters during Operation United Response in Haiti. He served in Vicenza, Italy, with the U.S. Army Africa. He supported various exercises and contingency operations on the African continent including Joint Task Force Odyssey Guard, Libya, and Operation United Assistance, Liberia. 

He was the Army War College Fellow at the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia, and was chief of staff for the 21st Theater Sustainment Command in Germany. He assumed his duties as commander of the 405th Army Field Support Brigade in June 2020. 

He is married and has three sons.

The 405th Army Field Support Brigade fully activated its Army Prepositioned Stock-2 sites and, for the first time in the brigade’s APS-2 program history, it is tasked with outfitting an entire armored brigade combat team being deployed to Europe from the United States. 

Thus far, the 405th AFSB has planned and executed a flawless APS-2 mission in support of U.S. Army Europe and Africa and U.S. European Command, ensuring the right types and quantities of equipment and vehicles are quickly positioned to support U.S. forces. 

The commander of the 405th AFSB, Colonel Brad Bane, credited the brigade’s success to planning. 

The 405th AFSB is assigned to U.S. Army Sustainment Command and under the operational control of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command, U.S. Army Europe and Africa. The brigade is headquartered in Kaiserslautern, Germany, and provides materiel enterprise support to U.S. Forces throughout Europe and Africa
