Senate Bill Introduced to Limit Large Tech Mergers

Proposed companion bill to prior tech legislation.

Senators Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota and Tom Cotton of Arkansas proposed a bill last week that intended to prevent large tech companies from merging to increase market power for themselves. The bill is titled the Platform Competition and Opportunities Act and works in tandem with a bill Senator Klobuchar helped propose last month which seeks to stop large search engines from skewing search results in their favor, the American Innovation and Choice Online Act.

“As dominant digital platforms — some of the biggest companies our world has ever seen — increasingly give preference to their own products and services, we must put policies in place to ensure small businesses and entrepreneurs still have the opportunity to succeed in the digital marketplace,” the Minnesota senator stated.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Senators Klobuchar and Cotton as they promote their legislation.
  • For wisdom for members of the House and Senate as they consider the bills.
