Request Made to Lift Vaccine Mandate on National Guard

Pentagon receives request from Oklahoma governor who says the state will lose 10% of guardsmen.

On Tuesday, Governor Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma wrote a letter to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin requesting that the Pentagon lift its requirement for members of the National Guard to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. In his letter, Governor Stitt stated that 10% of Oklahoma’s guardsmen would lose their jobs due to the mandate.

Governor Stitt wrote, “This mandate violates the personal freedoms of many Oklahomans, as it asks them to potentially sacrifice their personal beliefs in order to not lose their jobs. All of our national guardsmen take this calling very seriously. These are patriotic citizens who are willing to put their lives on the line to protect others in our communities during times of greatest need.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That Secretary Austin would be discerning in setting policy for the health of the country’s enlisted personnel.
  • For the president’s administration as they continue to address the coronavirus.
  • For wisdom for governors as they work to care for their respective states and residents.
