Jesus told the Laodicean church that, though they claimed to be rich, they were wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked (Revelation 3:17). They had invested only in earthly, rather than heavenly, wealth. A report from the Maclellan Foundation estimated that the United States has 276 billionaires. There are hundreds of thousands with a net worth exceeding $10 million. And over a half-million have a net worth of more than $5 million. The number of wealthy is also said to be increasing. However, according to Ron Blue & Co., 80 million families in the U.S. would say that they are in financial trouble. And the pandemic struggles have not helped. Ron Blue & Co. also reported that 96 percent of evangelical giving is out of income, while 4 percent is from net worth. The category you belong to with regard to earthly riches has no bearing on your wealth in God’s kingdom. Today, take time to ponder what and where you are investing. God wants you to be spiritually invested in what matters to Him. “Only one life, will soon be passed; only what’s done for Christ will last.”
