All that the Lord has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient. Exodus 24:7

Absorption Rate

Paper towel manufacturers herald the quickness of their products’ absorption of spills, and how they are strong enough to get all of it without losing a drop. In a similar way, God is looking for you to soak up and retain His Word as a part of strengthening your personal walk with Him. Absorbing means more than mere reading. It is drawing God’s Word into your situations, internalizing it, and letting it make a difference in your life. Getting into the Bible is active. Here are a few ideas: Read your Scripture and devotional aloud. It engages more than one of your senses and makes it carry longer through the day. Pray over the Scripture you have read. Let God know that you heard Him and have been inspired by what you read. Take notes. Some will underline an important verse and put a date and a couple of words in a margin to note why that meant something on a particular day. Others keep journals. Notes show you have engaged your mind. Finally, be awed that you have absorbed a message from the Lord. Let it delight your soul.
