President Sets Goal of 30% of Land for Conservation

Increased funding and public-private partnership tools to accomplish 2030 goal.

On Thursday, President Biden announced that he had directed the Department of the Interior to begin implementing a plan that would result in setting aside one-third of the nation’s land and water for conservation efforts. Known as the “America the Beautiful” plan, it would try to reach this goal by 2030, and rely on a public-private partnership to preserve the natural wealth of the country for the future.

Currently, 12% of the country’s land and 25% of its waters are under some form of protection. The aim of the president’s plan focus on purifying drinking water, growing public green spaces, improving outdoor recreation possibilities, and reducing wildfires. The first stage will involve increased funding for national parks in areas considered “nature-deprived” such as cities and other urban areas.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That God would help the President preserve the nation’s lands for many years to come.
  • That the Interior Department would be successful in preserving more of the nation’s land.
  • That the Lord would guide Congress to partner with the White House to steward God’s creation.
