State Department Names Diversity, Inclusivity Officer

Former ambassador to Malta named to fill new post.

Gina Abercrombie-Winstanley has been named by Secretary of State Antony Blinken to be the department’s first chief diversity officer, a position created to make the U.S. diplomatic corps more representative.

The appointment of the former ambassador to Malta under the Obama administration is part of the Biden efforts to put diversity, equity, and racial justice at the top of the national agenda.

Introducing Abercrombie-Winstanley, Secretary Blinken said the department and the country were at a “moment of reckoning” on racial equality.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Gina Abercrombie-Winstanley as she assumes her new position with the State Department.
  • For God’s purposes to be fulfilled as the president’s administration focuses on diversity reforms.
