U.S. Joins Europe, UK in imposing sanctions on China.

Actions are in response to treatment of Uyghur Muslims.

On Monday, the United States, European Union, and the United Kingdom announced a new joint effort to address human rights violations brought about by the Chinese government. New sanctions placed on officials in power are a direct response to the treatment of Uyghur Muslims in the western Xinjiang province. Four officials in that region have had their assets frozen and are shut out from future trade agreements.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated, “We will continue to stand with our allies around the world in calling for an immediate end to the PRC’s crimes and for justice for the many victims.“ He also laid out the reasoning for the actions saying, “a united transatlantic response sends a strong signal to those who violate or abuse international human rights, and we will take further actions in coordination with like-minded partners.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for the president and his administration as they address issues in foreign countries.
  • That Secretary Blinken would build strong diplomatic relations with the nation’s allies.
  • That God would work in the hearts of Chinese officials to cease human rights offenses.
