Through the Glasses of Eternity

He has put eternity into man’s heart. – Ecclesiastes 3:11

Have you seen any of those recently popular videos online of someone who is colorblind putting on special glasses to help them see colors? It is such a heartwarming moment to see the raw joy and amazement at someone seeing their world in vivid color for the very first time. Or maybe you have experienced blinding sunshine outside, which led you to put on a pair of sunglasses. What was once difficult to see became easier once your eyes were shaded.

In the same way, God has given His children a pair of special glasses to see life through. He created humanity in His own image, and with that image came the desire to pursue and enjoy the divine, infinite parts of God. It is also true that His hand is constantly over everything, working it all together for His glory and the good of His children. But just as the sun can blind someone from seeing everything clearly, the world can blind God’s children to what is really happening.

The good news is that no one has to stay blind! God has created everyone with a nature that draws them to Himself – whether they realize it or not. As a follower of God, are you using the right pair of “glasses” to see the world through? Put on the glasses of eternity and strive to view the world with a new perspective. Trust that God is working all things together, that one day all those who know and follow Him will enjoy a beautiful eternity with Him. Pray today that God would bring this perspective to all those who need it today, including all those in government blinded by worldly things.

Today’s Verse: Ecclesiastes 3:11

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.

23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. 29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
