President Seeks Solutions to Reopen Schools

Multiple cities resist guidance to reopen in-person learning.

The president’s administration has pledged to reopen schools within his first 100 days in office. However, city mayors and local teachers’ unions have resisted the push to return to school despite health officials’ assurances of minimal transmission of COVID-19 in school settings. Variances in the details of safety protocols and the status of vaccinations have led many in elementary education to delay the return to in-person learning. This hesitance has put pressure on the president’s goal.

President Biden has drafted a “pandemic rescue plan” to accomplish school reopenings. Though the Centers for Disease Control vouched for the safety of returning children to schools without teachers being vaccinated, teachers and their unions have worried about vaccine shortages and increasingly delayed rollout of vaccinations. If the president’s pandemic rescue plan isn’t approved by Congress, new measures will need to be discussed.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For God to work through the government and education sectors to accomplish His best for children and their education.
  • That the president’s administration would be able to balance students’ health and learning.
  • For HHS and CDC officials to release the most accurate data for Americans’ wellbeing.
