For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. – Job 19:25
Job was a righteous man who lost everything in a matter of 24 hours. But he kept an incredible faith, despite not knowing the conversation between God and Satan. Although Job struggled with the concept that the Lord could be against him, he firmly believed that in the end, he would one day see Him with his own eyes even after his earthly body had decayed. Job maintained an affirmation of confidence when he said: “I know that my Redeemer lives.”
Thousands of years before Christ was born in Bethlehem, Job prophesied that Jesus would come and stand on the Earth. Centuries after Job, the prophet Isaiah described in detail how the Savior would die. Even the sacrificial system in the temple illustrated how the Messiah would become the Redeemer for the sins of His people.
Romans 3:23-24 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”
Take time during this Christmas season to thank your Heavenly Father for the greatest Gift you could ever receive. The Creator of the universe came down to Earth as a vulnerable baby for the sole purpose to save and deliver you from sin. And the price that Christ paid was His life. Remember also that Jesus not only redeems you, but He can strengthen your faith during tough times. As you celebrate Him, pray that those leaders on Capitol Hill will also be able to say in confidence: “I know that my Redeemer lives.”
