President Approves Disaster Assistance for Texas

Major disaster declaration provides aid in state’s recovery from hurricane devastation.

This past week, President Trump approved federal assistance for the state of Texas to aid in recovery efforts after the devastation of Hurricane Laura in late August of this year. The major disaster declaration provides federal funding to support state, tribal, and local governments with repairs, replacement, or emergency work in affected areas.

Governor Abbott said, “The President’s declaration opens up new recovery resources and crucial assistance that will help Texas communities rebuild from this storm.”

This funding helps with debris removal, emergency protective measures, and statewide hazard mitigation. FEMA Administrator Pete Gaynor has designated Jerry Thomas as the federal coordinating officer of recovery operations in the areas that experienced damage. Further damage assessments will also be made.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Administrator Gaynor and FEMA as national disaster responses are implemented.
  • For President Trump as he considers the needs of the states for federal support.
  • For Texans and others who are still recovering and rebuilding from the damage and devastation of the hurricanes this year.
