Be Malleable

Are you under pressure?

Isaiah 64:8 – But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter.

Are you plastic? No, not superhero figure or Barbie doll plastic, but do you have plasticity—the ability to experience reforming without fracturing. God has called you to be that kind of malleable, a person capable of being stretched, shaped, and formed, by hammering or pressure, or by the hands of a compassionate potter.  It is interesting that God likens you to clay that He shapes, and, indeed, while a lump on a spinning wheel, He gently molds you into what He wants you to be, sometimes pressing you, pulling on you, pinching you, wetting you down.  But once He has you as He wants you, to be useful you must go into the kiln and be heated up for a while!

What He does to You, His child, He can also do to a nation. If the lump of clay cannot be kneaded and shaped, the work of the potter is at risk of being cast aside. Isaiah 45:9 warns, “Woe to him who strives with him who formed him, a pot among earthen pots! Does the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’ or ‘Your work has no handles?’”  The clear response for you, and for America, needs to be “Mold me and make me after Your Will, while I am waiting, yielded and still.”

Pray With Us

Heavenly Father, an old hymn comes to mind where it says, ‘Mold me and make me after your will, while I am waiting yielded and still.’  We need Your healing touch in this nation and pray that you will gently mold us back into a country that brings glory to You. Like a lump of clay in Your hands, You may need to press us, pinch us, wet us down, and keep us spinning on Your potter’s wheel for a bit. But our trust is in You to craft us into what You want us to be, for Your own sake, we pray.  Amen.

  • Pray for national healing.
  • Pray that Christians would seek unity with one another, regardless of political positions, knowing that it is God’s purposes that are being worked out.
  • Pray for election officials where vote counting, or recounting, is yet underway.
  • Pray that candidates, whether in victory or in defeat, will be ready to accept the election results.
  • Pray for clarity in understanding how God could be reshaping you through these national circumstances.
  • Pray for a willing spirit as you submit to His Hand upon you.
