Wildfires on the West Coast Take 12 Lives

Over three million acres of land have burned.

This week, the federal government reported that the massive wildfires burning across the west coast had already burned three million acres of land, and have caused the deaths of 12 people, without a clear end in sight. The sky in California and other parts of the country turned a bright orange as ash covered the atmosphere.

Governor Kate Brown of Oregon set out just how terrible the fires are saying, “We have never seen this amount of uncontained fire across our state.” Oregon state officials are said to be preparing for a possible “mass fatality” event.

The White House has approved FEMA to bring a response in Oregon and California to help state and local authorities recover from the massive damage across the region.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For God to keep people safe from the fires.
  • For FEMA to effectively preserve the homes and livelihoods of those in the path of the blaze.
  • That God would help the government pass legislation that would prevent these fires in the future.
