President Participates In Dallas Roundtable

Met with faith leaders, law and order representatives.

President Trump participated in a roundtable held at Gateway Church in Dallas, Texas, on Thursday. The meeting opened with the prayers of two faith leaders.

The roundtable had been set up a long time ago, but is all the more relevant now, President Trump said.  He began by outlining some of the accomplishments of the current Administration, including criminal justice reform, Opportunity Zones and, the low unemployment prior to the coronavirus. Now it is time to further discuss equal justice for all Americans, investing resources appropriately, and standing for law and order, he said.

He lamented the situation in Seattle where a city is at risk of being lost to a group that has taken over a portion of the city center.

“Americans are good and virtuous people. … We have to get everybody together and on the same path,” the president said. He called on the great potential of all Americans. He said the problems of bigotry and discrimination must and can be solved.

He discussed four steps: Increase access to capital for minority-owned small businesses. Confront the disparities in healthcare and invest in medical institutions that serve minority communities. An executive order for police reform that will encourage working together with social and community workers. He wants stronger policing with compassion and understanding.

“We want safety and compassion,” President Trump said. The situations on the ground were “very unfair, destroying people, businesses, African-American owned small businesses.”

Finally, renewing the call for Congress to act on giving school choice because access to education is the civil rights issue of our time. Children need to be able to go to the school where their parents want them to go, he said. Unions and others are against it, but not for the right reasons.

Following his opening statement, Attorney General William Barr, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, and others addressed the group.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for President Trump, his Cabinet members and others as they look to provide opportunities for citizens moving forward.
  • For a return to economic growth in America, without which opportunity is a rare commodity.
  • For the Administration and Congress to develop the programs that move America toward greater fairness and strong moral values.
  • For law enforcement reforms to rebuild trust.
