Supreme Court Hears Final Cases of the Week

End of February Session has Court hear consolidated abortion cases

Wednesday saw the Supreme Court hear one of the most anticipated cases of the 2019-2020 session with the consolidated cases of June Medical Serv. v. Russo, Interim Sec., LA Dept. of Health and Russo, Interim Sec., LA Dept. of Health v. June Medical Serv. The outcome of this case could be an insight into the current court’s willingness to take up a future challenge to Roe v. Wade.

These cases deal with the extent of abortion law in the United States. The case looks at a challenge to the current law on the books in Louisiana that requires those performing abortions to have admitting rights to a local hospital. It is also the first major abortion case to come before the court since the retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy in 2018.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That God would bring about a result in this case that protects innocent life.
  • For the Justices of the Court to be given wisdom on how to rule on this case.
  • For the Court to carefully consider the cases to hear in the future.
