Senators to Meet with Ukrainian President Friday

Senators Visit Ukraine
Will reassure him of continued strong relationship

Three members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, Chris Murphy of Connecticut and John Barrasso of Wyoming, will meet on Friday with Ukrainian President Zelensky. The meeting in Kiev comes a week after members of the Senate acquitted President Trump of both abuse of power and obstruction of Congress relative to his actions toward Ukraine and subsequent investigations.

The senators say they want to reiterate that Ukraine has bipartisan support in America’s Congress and that the two countries’ relationship remains “as important now as ever.”

“The future of Ukraine matters to the United States and we must make sure Ukraine knows that we view them as a strategic ally. This is why we’re going to Kiev as a bipartisan delegation to reinforce our support with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky,” the three said in a joint statement.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the senators to have safe travels to and from Kiev.
  • For wisdom for U.S. leaders as they work to strengthen the relationship between the U.S. and Ukraine.
