Interior Oil Production Passes 1 Billion Barrels

Oil Drilling
Increase of nearly 30% in production since 2016 Takes ceremonial lap around the course

The Department of the Interior announced this week that for the first time in the Department’s history, oil production on federal lands had surpassed one billion barrels of crude oil produced. The Trump Administration increased production over 29 percent compared to the end of the Obama Administration. In total, royalties collected from oil production increased to $7.5 billion, making it the second-largest revenue generator following federal taxes.

According to Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt, “Disbursements paid to states and Tribes from oil lease revenues go right back to the communities where the energy was produced, providing critical funding for schools, public services, conservation improvements, coastal restoration and infrastructure projects that create good-paying American jobs.” It is one of the main policy goals of the Trump Administration to increase energy production by reducing what it deems are unnecessary environmental oversight policies.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That God would use Secretary Bernhardt to lead the Department effectively.
  • That the Trump Administration would be led to provide for the energy needs of our nation.
  • That the Interior Department would be a good steward of God’s creation.
