Charlie Kirk: A Voice of a Generation, a Voice of Faith.
PRAY FIRST for all Americans who are grieving the loss of Charlie Kirk. May God bring comfort, healing, and hope in this time of sorrow.
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Philippians 1:21
As many of you have heard, our nation was shaken on September 10 when Charlie Kirk, cultural commentator, co-founder and CEO of Turning Point USA, and Christian apologist, was tragically shot and killed while speaking to thousands at Utah Valley University. He was just 31 years old and is survived by his wife, Erika, and their two young children.

Charlie Kirk was more than a CEO or a public commentator; he was bold in bringing his Christian witness to the public square. Known for his unapologetic approach in conversations about faith and politics, he traveled across the country, often to college campuses, to engage in dialogue, challenging cultural norms, and encouraging the next generation to think deeply about truth, freedom, and faith.
In one interview, Charlie described his relationship with Christ this way: “I was drowning in an ocean and I happened to get picked up by a lifeboat… It’s not like I earned it or that I swam better than anyone else.” He continued, “There’s a great comfort in actually knowing that you’re completely and totally depraved… and knowing that you have to accept a Savior because of that. It’s actually the most comforting thing in the world.”
His hope was that all would come to salvation in Jesus Christ. That hope shaped his message, his mission, and his legacy.
A Life That Reached Leaders
Charlie’s influence extended into political and cultural spheres. On Thursday, Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance—close friends of the Kirk family—traveled to Utah to meet with his loved ones. They accompanied his casket aboard Air Force Two to Arizona, where he will be laid to rest near his family home.
Vice President Vance reflected, “Charlie genuinely believed in and loved Jesus Christ… He wanted to understand God. Charlie Kirk was a true friend—the kind of guy you could say something to and know it would always stay with him.”
Kirk also met President Donald Trump on several occasions. During his remarks at the Pentagon on the anniversary of the September 11 attacks, President Trump announced that Charlie Kirk will be posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom—a recognition of his impact on the nation and his unwavering stand for truth.
Words of Courage and Legacy
Whether they knew him personally or only from afar, people across the nation are sharing heartfelt reflections on how Charlie Kirk’s life and message impacted them. From pastors to political leaders, friends to followers, the common thread is clear: Charlie’s boldness for seeking truth and his unwavering faith left a mark that will not be forgotten.
In a message titled “The Cross Still Offends,” Pastor Rich Bitterman offered this stirring reminder:
“He died carrying the same message you and I must now carry forward.
The cross stands tall.
The tomb is still empty.
And the gospel has not lost one ounce of power.
So pick up your cross. Wipe your eyes. And keep going. The crown is worth it. The King is coming. And there’s still time to speak.”
Pastor Jack Hibbs added: “Charlie has now finished his race… We celebrate his glorious graduation into the presence of Jesus Christ. It is now up to us to carry on the love, the defense, and the courage that Charlie had in proclaiming Christ in America.”
Pastor Josh Blevins echoed this call to boldness: “Charlie dared to speak truth into a world that despises it… His legacy urges us to stand unashamed of the gospel, unafraid of the cost, and unrelenting in our pursuit of righteousness.”
The Power of Prayer and the Path Forward
In moments like these, when grief is raw and the future feels uncertain, we are reminded that prayer is not our last resort; it is our greatest strength. Scripture tells us to “not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6).
Prayer is how we move forward. It is how we connect with our Heavenly Father and can begin to heal. It is how we fight, not with bitterness or vengeance, but with faith, humility, and hope. As Charlie himself once said, “I pray for every single person to be able to find the same sort of redemption and meaning and connection that I have had.”
Why It Matters and How We Can Respond
Let us honor his life not only with remembrance, but with renewed obedience to Christ. Let us pray for our enemies, speak truth in love, and carry the gospel forward with courage and compassion.
In this hour of national mourning and reflection, may we rise as a people of prayer—interceding for our leaders, our youth, our churches, and our country. The future of America will be shaped by the prayers of the faithful.
HOW THEN SHOULD WE PRAY:
— Pray those who hold office to seek God’s wisdom as they pursue civic stewardship. Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed. Proverbs 15:22
— Pray for all Americans as we navigate this difficult time. May God’s people rise to be beacons of light, offering truth with compassion and love in a world that desperately needs both. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:9-10
CONSIDER THESE ITEMS FOR PRAYER:
- Pray for Erika Kirk, their two children, close friends, extended family, and all who are grieving this profound loss. May God’s comfort surround them and may His peace sustain them through this difficult time.
- Pray for God’s guidance and protection over federal and local law enforcement as they investigate the events and seek truth with integrity and clarity.
- Pray for wisdom, humility, and discernment for government officials and public figures as they respond publicly and reflect privately. May their words promote healing, and may they resist the temptation to inflame division or politicize tragedy.
- Pray for a spirit of peace, unity, and moral clarity among our nation’s leaders. May this moment stir a deeper commitment to righteousness, justice, and collaboration, not just to address violence, but to seek the heart of God for our nation’s future.
