Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God, and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. – Psalm 62:11-12
Power and Love
It may be tempting to focus on the power struggle that is playing out around you in the community, nation, and world. Followers of Christ, individually and the church corporately, need to be aware of what humanity wants most: power and love. These are both found in the Lord. Not only is God the Source, He keeps the two in perfect balance. The Holy Spirit indwells each person who believes in the Lord Jesus, providing both God’s love and His power. The prophet Zecharaiah wrote, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord of hosts” (Zechariah 4:6). The Apostle John stated that “love comes from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God” (1 John 4:7). The Lord enables both the believer and the Church to act in His love and His power. Pray that those of faith serving in government would pause and experience the refreshing of God’s Spirit today.
