Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
President Donald Trump stated that “the time for being soft on these Illegal Immigrant Criminals is over under my watch!” His comments were made after an illegal alien beheaded a motel manager in Texas. According to the Department of Homeland Security, the murderer had been convicted of multiple crimes and was set to be removed to Cuba, but was released from detention by President Biden’s administration in January.
Pray for the president, DHS secretary, and acting ICE director as they seek to remove violent criminal noncitizens from the U.S.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Representative Ritchie Torres of New York announced that he would introduce legislation directing the Department of Homeland Security to study the potential deployment of drones to provide security for public events and potentially prevent assassination attempts. The congressman said, “If drones can enable the early detection and prevention of assassination attempts, why not use them? Better to have vigilant eyes in the sky than to remain blind to would-be assassins.”
Pray for members of Congress as they seek ways to increase the safety of large public gatherings and reduce the chance of violence or assassination.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The Senate Judiciary Committee heard testimony from Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel earlier this week. The FBI director then testified before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. The topics on which legislators queried Director Patel included the files on Jeffrey Epstein, the efforts of President Trump’s administration to reduce crime in major metropolitan areas, and the investigation of the assassination of Charlie Kirk last week in Utah.
Pray for members of the House and Senate committees to be prudent as they seek to hold the leaders of federal agencies accountable.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
A panel of the First Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals lifted an injunction placed by a district court judge that stopped President Trump’s administration from cutting Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood. The lawsuit sought to block a provision in the One Big Beautiful Bill that prohibited organizations that provide abortions from receiving Medicaid reimbursements. The decision is in harmony with the Supreme Court’s ruling in Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic in June of this year, which allowed states to exclude Planned Parenthood from Medicaid funding.
Pray for discernment for judges in the district and circuit courts as they hear and issue rulings on cases that challenge legislation passed by Congress and signed by the president.
