The judge stated no additional information is in the transcripts.
New York District Court Judge Paul Engelmayer denied the Justice Department’s request to unseal the transcripts from the grand jury trial that convicted Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s accomplice in sex trafficking.
In his 31-page ruling, Judge Engelmayer said the Justice Department’s argument regarding the special circumstances surrounding the case “fails at the threshold” to explain a need to release the court documents. The judge said that the transcripts would not reveal new information to the public, implying the president’s administration simply sought to appear transparent.
“The court’s review confirmed that unsealing the grand jury materials would not reveal new information of any consequence,” Judge Engelmayer stated in his ruling. “It’s entire premise – that the Maxwell grand jury materials would bring to light meaningful new information about Epstein’s and Maxwell’s crimes, or the government’s investigation into them – is demonstrably false.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Justice Department officials to be prudent as they assess what to reveal in the Epstein case and dealings.
- For federal judges to receive God’s guidance regarding the withholding of files and transcripts.
