Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel reported the discovery of burn bags at the agency that included information on the abuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court regarding the 2016 election interference scandal, so-called Russia Gate. The director has also released FBI officials who were involved in records destruction or obstruction of an investigation into the FBI’s involvement in the events at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Pray for Director Patel and FBI officials as they seek to declassify information and conduct business with transparency.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Senator Bernie Moreno of Ohio, who is originally from Colombia, visited the Latin American country last week as part of a three nation tour. Colombia’s former president, Alvaro Uribe, who was successful at addressing guerilla violence, is appealing a recent criminal conviction for bribery and witness tampering. Senator Moreno said, “The purpose of the trip is to understand all the dynamics before any decision is made. But there’s nothing that’s taken off the table at this point and there’s nothing that’s directly being contemplated.”
Pray for discernment for Senators and Representatives as they craft legislative policies to address the U.S. relationship with foreign nations.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
House Veterans Affairs Committee chair Representative Mike Bost of Illinois released a statement of support joined by five colleagues supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs move to end all abortion procedures in department facilities. The legislators stated, “Taxpayers do not want their hard-earned money spent on paying for abortions and VA’s sole focus should always be providing service-connected health care and benefits to the veterans they serve.”
Pray for members of the House and Senate committees as they oversee federal departments and deliberate appropriations for Fiscal Year 2026.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The Supreme Court announced that it will convene for its “long conference“ on September 29. In the private meeting ahead of the official start of the fall term, the justices will review approximately 2,000 petitions that have accumulated since their final conference of the previous term in late June. The new term formally begins on the first Monday in October.
Pray for the justices of the Supreme Court as they prepare to consider the thousands of petitions that have built up in their marathon private session next month.
