Issue 713 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for America’s Military

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the Pentagon is collaborating with the Department of Agriculture and the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) to identify and halt the purchase of land around military bases in the United States by foreign entities or governments. The defense secretary said it is a matter of national security, warning, “No longer can foreign adversaries assume we’re not watching and we’re not paying attention and we’re not doing something because we are.”

Pray for Secretaries Hegseth and Rollins as they seek to ensure national security and protect U.S. military bases from foreign surveillance and interference.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

After the summit with President Putin last week in Alaska regarding peace in Ukraine, President Trump met with President Zelensky and then several European leaders at the White House. President Trump announced that the Russian and Ukrainian presidents would be meeting with each other in the next two weeks.

Pray for wisdom for President Trump and administration officials as they seek an end to the Ukraine war.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

After Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said last week that he believed the potential for a partial ceasefire with Hamas was over, Hamas announced over the weekend that it agreed to terms proposed by mediators from Qatar and Egypt.

Pray for U.S. and Israeli leaders, diplomats, and military officials as they assess the current situation in Gaza and the potential release of the hostages.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

Volunteers from several federal law enforcement agencies are reviewing 65,000 calls made to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) hotline for concerns regarding unaccompanied alien children (UAC). The calls were made during President Biden’s administration, with many of the calls coming from the minors themselves. An HHS whistleblower stated,  “I thought I was going to help place children in loving homes. Instead, I discovered that children are being trafficked through a sophisticated network that begins with being recruited in their home country, smuggled to the U.S. border, and ends when [Office of Refugee Resettlement] delivers a child to a sponsor – some sponsors are criminals and traffickers and members of Transnational Criminal Organizations.”

Pray for Secretary Kennedy and the volunteers as they seek to track down and rescue the missing unaccompanied minors.

Pray for Needs Across the States

A Michigan judge ordered Governor Gretchen Whitmer to respond by Friday, August 22, to a lawsuit seeking to fill a state senate seat that has been vacant since now-Representative Kristen McDonald Rivet was sworn in to the House of Representatives in January. The case was brought by residents of the district after the governor neglected to call for a special election to fill the position.

The Vermont state legislature passed a law banning the use of neonicotinoids, widely used pesticides, that are causing a decrease in bee populations. The action was taken after beekeepers reported losing more than half of their bee colonies, and studies showed neonicotinoids contaminate the groundwater and soil. The state’s Agency of Agriculture is holding meetings to discuss next steps for farming that has relied on these pesticides.

Pray for state governors and officials to be prudent in their decisions and actions and to serve their constituents with integrity.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

What does it mean for Jesus to be the head of the church—for His people to be His body? It means that Jesus is to be the authority over the church, the congregation. We know physiologically that the mind controls all parts of the body. The head makes the decisions while the different parts and limbs follow and obey the prompts and direction of the mind. All parts of the body must work in coordinated obedience to the mind. Likewise, the body of believers must obey the revealed mind of God found in Scripture. We all must respond to what our head has said.
Obey the head, Christ Jesus. Our Lord has told us what to do in His book. We must obey Him in two ways: First, we must obey Him privately, or individually, as we read and feed upon God’s Word. Second, we must obey Him corporately as we participate in and mature with the body of Christ. Only when Christ is truly our head—obeyed in both our private lives and our shared life as His Church—can the body be healthy, united, and effective for His glory.  Dr. Michael Youssef, Leading the Way, August
