In the News…
U.S. Representative Kevin Kiley of California has introduced his plan to introduce legislation that would defund and revoke tax exempt status for nongovernment organizations (NGOs) that support or finance anti-federal immigration enforcement demonstrations. Another measure would increase penalties for obstructing or disrupting federal immigration or law enforcement operations and for assault on a federal officer.
Representative Kiley announced, “I’m introducing legislation to cut off funding and tax-exempt status for ‘nonprofits‘ that organize riots.” The congressman highlighted a group that has received millions in federal funding that tracked ICE agents and gave rioters their locations in real time.
“The violence we have witnessed in Los Angeles is a threat to the safety of our communities and federal officers, and it undermines democracy by obstructing the policies of a duly elected President from being implemented.” Representative Kiley said. “We need better tools to deter and punish this lawless and anti-democratic behavior.”
The congressman added, “It should be one area where the country to work together.”
