The rescissions will save $9.4 billion in federal spending.
The House of Representatives barely passed budget cuts to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) last week, sending the rescission packages to the Senate for further review. If the bills are passed, they will cut $8.3 billion from USAID and $1.1 billion for the CPB.
These bills were passed by the House in a narrow vote, with four members of the majority joining the unanimous minority in opposition. After the bill was approved, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson commended its passage.
“I want to thank DOGE for their heroic and patriotic efforts,” Speaker Johnson said after the vote. “What we’re trying to do is ensure that every dollar spent by the federal government is used efficiently and effectively”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Speaker Johnson to be led by the Lord as he oversees House business.
- For Majority Leader Thune as he negotiates on behalf of the legislation to fund President Trump’s agenda.
