President Donald Trump has given TikTok’s China-based owner, ByteDance, a third extension for divesting the social media app.

Today had been the most recent deadline for the second extension of the mandated sale. The app was shut down the day before the inauguration in January, having lost its legal case against the government’s national security requirement for divestment. Upon taking office, President Trump immediately provided a 75-day extension to keep the app up and running. A second 75-day extension was given in April.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated this week, “As he has said many times, President Trump does not want TikTok to go dark. This extension will last 90 days, which the Administration will spend working to ensure this deal is closed so that the American people can continue to use TikTok with the assurance that their data is safe and secure.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump to receive God’s guidance as he works out trade agreements and negotiates the sale of TikTok.
- For members of the president’s trade team to be prudent in their discussions with foreign partners.
- For wisdom for Supreme Court justices as they finalize opinions for cases they have heard this term and begin selecting cases to hear in the fall.
