The international health system will offer an alternative for pandemic preparedness.
The Department of Health and Human Services announced that an “alternative international health system,” separate from the World Health Organization (WHO), is going to be launched in partnership with Argentina.
HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and Argentine Minister of Health Mario Lugones released a joint statement this week making the announcement in which they criticized the WHO for its shortcomings during the COVID-19 pandemic. The two referenced a report released by the Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response in 2021, which found that WHO failed to follow its own protocol for pandemic prevention before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.
“The WHO’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic revealed serious structural and operational shortcomings that undermined global trust and highlighted the urgent need for independent, science-based leadership in global health,” the joint statement read. “Real health threats demand urgency and gold-standard science.“
Last month, Secretary Kennedy invited world health ministers to consider joining an organization that is, “lean, efficient, transparent, and accountable.“
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Kennedy to receive God’s wisdom as he promotes the alternate international health collaboration.
- For the president and members of his Cabinet to be discerning as they endeavor to update health policies.
