Issue 697 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for America’s Military

The Pentagon is looking into the development of an unmanned undersea vessel “to maximize operational effectiveness in contested environments.“ The Defense Innovation Unit stated the Combat Autonomous Maritime Platform (CAMP) would utilize AI technology to enhance the Navy’s underwater warfare capabilities.

Pray for Defense Secretary Hegseth and U.S. military commanders as they seek the next level of mission operability.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

The U.S. and Ukraine signed a mineral rights and security agreement on Wednesday, though last minute negotiations threatened to postpone the signing again. While President Donald Trump stated he believes President Putin wants peace despite the increased Russian attacks on Ukraine, the Kremlin has indicated that ending the war will not be achieved quickly.

Pray for Presidents Trump, Putin, and Zelensky as peace negotiations between the nations continue.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

The U.S. affirmed that Israel must provide aid to Gaza but told the International Court of Justice that the nation does not have to work with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). Israel has requested foreign assistance after declaring a national emergency due to fast-spreading wildfires that broke out near Jerusalem. The army has been deployed to help firefighters and communities have been evacuated.

Pray for Israeli officials as they seek to bring the wildfires under control. Pray for wisdom for U.S. leaders as they assess support and aid to Israel.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

A recent study found that over 10 percent of women who use the abortion drug mifepristone to end their pregnancy experience complications. Released by the Ethics and Public Policy Center, the study’s conclusion reflects a 22 percent higher complication rate than the .5 percent listed by the Food and Drug Administration. Data from 865,000 insurance claims for mifepristone prescriptions between 2017 and 2023 was used for the study.

Pray for U.S. health officials as they consider the safety, effectiveness, and risks of prescription drugs.

Pray for Needs Across the States

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed legislation requiring schools to ban cell phones during classroom instruction. The state’s public K-12 school districts must adopt phone restriction policies by July 1. The law does not apply to private and charter schools but directs the state’s Education Department to develop model policies that such schools could use.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis vetoed a bill that would require social media companies to remove the accounts of anyone who sold guns or drugs or exploited children. The legislation would also have required the companies to comply with search warrants within 72 hours and keep annual reports of violations. The Colorado State Legislature was unable to override the veto.

Pray for state governors and other officials as they seek to address concerns surrounding education and social media.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

“The story of Stephen’s stoning contains a curious footnote: ‘His accusers took off their coats and laid them at the feet of a young man named Saul‘ (Acts 7:58 NLT). That would be Saul of Tarsus. After participating in the stoning of Stephen, Saul gained notoriety as a persecutor of Christians.
Saul was proud of his Jewish heritage and zealous in his Jewish faith. When he saw the followers of Jesus of Nazareth, a dead revolutionary, challenging Jewish beliefs, he determined to put an end to their movement. …
This was a man fueled by religious extremism. Saul found his identity in his Jewish religion. He was rigid in his beliefs and unlikely to change. Until he encountered the risen Christ. … The risen Christ can transform any life. He offers forgiveness and healing. He gives us new purpose, new meaning, and new hope. Through the Holy Spirit, He guides us, comforts us, convicts us when we do wrong, and challenges us to maximize our God-given gifts. Jesus lets us start again.“ – Pastor Greg Laurie, “Paul (Also Known as Saul), A New Beginning
