Wednesday, July 1

President Donald Trump will be meeting with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for a working lunch today. Among issues of national security and foreign policy, the two are expected to discuss the ongoing meetings with United Nations to extend the arms embargo on Iran and to respond to China’s crack down of Hong Kong. Both issues could have major implications in global security and trade in the international community.

Today marks the beginning of the new trade agreement between the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The USMCA taking effect brings to close a nearly three-year effort to update and replaces the aging NAFTA deal.

In addition to regulations on North American manufacturing, eCommerce, and the automotive industry, Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue praised how the deal benefits America’s farmers. He said, ” USMCA creates more market access for farmers from across our nation to sell their wholesome and nutritious products to our closest neighbors. This is a better deal for America that will grow our economy and put more money in the pockets of American families.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For God to guide President Trump and Secretary Pompeo as they meet today.
  • For wisdom for the president as he addresses issues of foreign policy, and that God would be at work through him to bring about peace and stability.
  • For the many leaders working to implement the USMCA, that they would have clarity and direction in carrying out all of the changes.
