USDA Launches Delta Regional Food Business Center

Seeks to USDA strengthen the food supply chain and support local farmers.

The USDA announced the development of the Delta Regional Food Business Center, intended to strengthen the food supply chain structure in the Delta region. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack spoke in Jackson, Mississippi, emphasizing the importance of public and private partnerships in this endeavor. The center, a collaboration between community-based organizations, universities, and Community Development Financial Institutions, will assist food and farm businesses in reaching local markets, improving resilience in the supply chain, and building local and regional food systems.

“The Delta Regional Food Business Center will help producers in the Delta region create new and expanded market opportunities which will improve farm income, create good paying jobs, and build greater resilience in our overall food system,” said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. “USDA is committed to strengthening local and regional food systems to provide farmers and producers with more options and opportunities to access the marketplace, which is essential to the overall food supply chain.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Vilsack to seek God’s direction as he oversees the implementation of the Delta food business center.
  • For USDA officials as they seek to strengthen the food supply chain.
