Issue 595 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for our Military

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) reported that the Department of Defense faces several challenges in the rebuilding and restoring of military readiness across all branches while it also seeks to modernize its forces. According to a May 2 report, the GAO states two decades of conflict has “downgraded” the readiness levels of America’s military.

Pray for Pentagon officials as they seek to keep national security and military readiness as top priorities.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

Ukrainian President Zelensky said more time is needed to prepare for a counteroffensive against Russian forces. He stated that it would be “unacceptable” to launch the assault at present because too many lives would be lost.

Pray for the men and women who are working on the war strategies for Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression.

Pray for AMERICA’S FOREIGN RELATIONS

A bipartisan coalition in the House of Representatives sent letters to the leaders of Australia, India, the U.K., and Canada urging them to designate the Iranian army as a terrorist group. “The Islamic Republic of Iran is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism and the IRGC is the central core of the country’s terrorist operations at home and abroad,” the legislators wrote. “The IRGC has openly carried out plots targeting citizens around the world for decades,” they continued. “Designating the IRGC will send the clear message to Iran that acts of terrorism against us, our partners, and innocent citizens must not, and will not be tolerated.”

Pray for foreign officials as they consider the inclusion of Iran and its Republican Guard among the world’s terrorists.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

The pharmaceutical company that manufactures Botox injections and breast implants has been funding physicians and researchers who promote cosmetic procedures for transgender people behind the scenes. Some physicians have received nearly half a million dollars to help transgender individuals “in the progress of their transition journey.”

Pray for U.S. medical professionals to be ethical in their approach to transgender ideology.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

At a Russian-hosted summit, Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian of Iran predicted that Syrian President Bashar Assad will provide a “launchpad” for new attacks against Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded, “We have hit Islamic Jihad with the most significant blow it has ever suffered [in Gaza]. We say to the terrorists: we see you everywhere, you cannot hide, and we choose where and when to hit you.”

Pray for Israeli leaders as they seek to prevent the continuing assaults on the people of Israel by those who want to destroy the Jewish people and the Jewish state.

Pray for AMERICA’S ECONOMY

Expectations for long-term inflation and general public pessimism over raising the debt ceiling has resulted in a six-month low in American consumer confidence. A new report from the Labor Department showed price jumps in April on both imported goods and petroleum products.

Pray for members of the Federal Reserve as they debate whether to continue the current pause on increasing borrowing rates or to increase interest again in their efforts to stall inflation.

Pray for Goodness in America

There are Americans in Ukraine working to protect children who have lost or become separated from parents and families, providing a safe haven called the “City of Goodness.” It receives no assistance from the U.S. government and has been a home for around 200 children from infants to toddlers and children with disabilities or serious health issues.

Give thanks for the Americans who will extend themselves for the benefit of the children displaced by war.

Pray for Needs Across the States

The Texas legislature is considering means to inject Christianity into the state’s public schools. They are giving consideration to having chaplains in each school, prominently displaying the Ten Commandments in classrooms, and dedicating time for prayer and Bible reading. Critics say it is a violation of the separation of church and state while supporters believe it is a step toward greater religious liberty.

Governor Jim Pillen of Nebraska is calling a ruling upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court last week that bans pork producers from holding pregnant pigs in “gestation crates,” a standard practice in modern hog farms, to be a “huge blow for producers.” He said it will “raise food costs for consumers and small businesses already struggling with mounting inflation.”

Pray for governors as they assess the needs their states have in the protection of their values and economies.
