President Approves Disaster Declaration after Tornadoes in OK

Eight tornados left 3 dead and dozens injured.

President Joe Biden approved a disaster declaration this week for parts of Oklahoma that were devastated by a number of tornadoes last week. Extreme storms created 8 tornadoes that killed three individuals, damaged dozens of homes, and knocked out power for thousands of people.

The counties of McClain and Pottawatomie have been approved for federal aid to help recover from the severe storms. Temporary housing and low-cost loans for uninsured property are also available to victims in the areas hardest hit. Adam Burpee of the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) has been appointed to oversee recovery efforts in the area.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president and his advisers as they consider assistance requests from states dealing with natural disasters.
  • For state and local officials in Oklahoma as they oversee recovery efforts from the tornadoes.
  • For the families who lost loved ones in the wake of the storms.
