Interior Department Announces Major Solar Initiative

Project expected to power roughly 260,000 homes.

The Department of the Interior announced on Monday that it would be embarking on what it is calling the “Largest Solar Project in U.S. History.” The goal of the project would be to build a 690-MW solar panel array about 30 miles outside of Las Vegas that would ultimately power an estimated 260,000 homes in Nevada and Southern California. When completed, it would be the eighth-largest such facility in the world.

Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt explained that a key cornerstone of the solar energy effort would be to bring Americans back to work. He said, “As our economy rebounds from the invisible enemy, President Trump is working to make the United States stronger than ever before. Our economic resurgence will rely on getting America back to work, and this project delivers on that objective.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That God would use Secretary Bernhardt to lead the Interior Department to bring the country to a sustainable energy future.
  • For the Interior Department to be a good steward of the solar plant project.
  • That the White House would be guided to the best use of federal land for the good of all Americans.
