Feds Probing Mexican Passports with Middle Eastern Names

DHS memo says, there are over 30,000 of them.

According to a Department of Homeland Security memo, a “high number” of people with Middle Eastern names are traveling with Mexican passports. The memo said at the beginning of 2022, there were nearly 30,000 such individuals identified by federal law enforcement officials.

The Mexican passport holders were flagged as part of a probe into passport fraud, and each identified individual will be further evaluated. A senior DHS official stated that the agency will likely investigate whether or not any of the individuals traveled into the U.S., and if there are patterns in their travel.

“This investigation highlights that criminals often use legal travel to facilitate criminal activity,” the official said. “The nexus to Mexico should cause the public and lawmakers to reflect on how a porous border can be even more dangerous.”

The DHS memo said the department’s National Targeting Center, created shortly after the 9/11 attacks, identified the passports.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Commissioner Magnus as he oversees Customs and Border Protection operations.
  • For Secretary Mayorkas to seek God’s direction as he heads Homeland Security.
  • For officials working in the National Targeting Center as they work to uncover potential threats to national security.
