Interior Secretary Addresses Drought Conditions

Highlights conservation efforts and ongoing support of Indian Country while in Arizona.

Last week, Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland and the Assistant Secretary for Water and Science Tanya Trujillo traveled to Arizona to highlight a number of Interior projects related to the department’s efforts to address water shortages in the region. Due to increased water consumption, many areas in the southwest of the country have been affected.

During her trip, Secretary Haaland spoke to local tribal governments to highlight that the Interior would continue to place the needs of Native Americans at the forefront of its policies. $1.7 billion in infrastructure funding will be utilized to make good on federal promises of water rights to tribal communities.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For officials in the Bureau of Land Management as they collaborate regarding drought conditions.
  • For the commissioner of the Bureau of Reclamation as they consider options to support adequate water to the desert regions.
  • For Secretary Haaland to have wisdom as she oversees the various agencies within her department.
