Secretary Mayorkas Marks Holocaust Remembrance Day

DHS secretary honors his Jewish heritage in speech.

Last Thursday, United States leaders honored the International Holocaust Remembrance Day through speech and ceremony. Department of Homeland Security Security Alejandro Mayorkas marked the day through a video statement, sharing how his own Jewish mother fled from the Holocaust with her parents and how that history guides his decision-making on a daily basis.

“I am proud to work in the Department of Homeland Security, where every day we fight against hate and to improve the quality of life for others,” Secretary Mayorkas said. “Partnership in these efforts is all the more important today, as the manifestation of hate through violence is on the rise everywhere. Together with our partners, we give limitless strength to our devotion to tolerance and basic human rights.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Mayorkas to seek God’s direction as he heads Homeland Security.
  • For DHS officials as they work to prevent acts of terror and other hate crime violence.
