Personal Accounts

Jesus answered them, ‘Have faith in God.’  – Mark 11:22

Can you imagine actually speaking to Jesus in person, while He was here on Earth? The people living in the vicinity of His ministry had a unique place in history. Their culture facilitated an up close and personal experience. And people at that time were given to writing down those personal accounts. Gospel writers Matthew and John were disciples and gave their own personal recollections although not contemporaneously with the events. Mark learned from Peter and Paul – of course, Peter was an eyewitness and Jesus later revealed Himself to Paul. Luke was writing to set the record straight having heard from eyewitnesses (Luke 1:2). All of them were writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

From a modern marketing perspective, it makes no sense to reveal the Redeemer of all mankind from a backwater area in a small corner of the premodern world and depend on written accounts of the events to spread the message. Yet, you can give a personal account that God’s plan worked! Here you are in 2022 in possession of that good news.

Everything you see happening in the world today is just as much a part of God’s plan as the timing of Jesus’ life on Earth. God is a God working THROUGH human history. Nothing is randomly timed. From the person moving in next door to the next Supreme Court decision, if it is happening right now, then this is its appointed time! “For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end – it will not lie“ (Habakkuk 2:3).

Pray for believers across America, including those serving on the nation’s courts, not to be distracted by the chaos of a world in turmoil but to keep their faith firmly grounded in God and His beautiful rescue plan for mankind. When the opportunity arises, give your personal account of salvation in Christ and pray your hearers will receive it in faith.

The Lord of hosts has sworn:
“As I have planned,
    so shall it be,
and as I have purposed,
    so shall it stand,
25 that I will break the Assyrian in my land,
    and on my mountains trample him underfoot;
and his yoke shall depart from them,
and his burden from their shoulder.”

26 This is the purpose that is purposed
    concerning the whole earth,
and this is the hand that is stretched out
    over all the nations.
27 For the Lord of hosts has purposed,
    and who will annul it?
His hand is stretched out,
and who will turn it back?
