House to Vote on New Security Measures

Bill includes investigation, increased security measures.

The House of Representatives is set to vote on a new security spending bill this week, as well as a bipartisan commission to investigate and understand the events that took place at the Capitol on January 6. The security bill would provide congressional offices with additional financial resources to combat threats through better intelligence, increased travel security, and stronger physical protection to the building itself.

Legislators are generally split along ideological lines with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy announcing that he will not support the measures. This announcement came after top-ranking members of both parties on the House Homeland Security Committee came to an agreement for a non-partisan investigation into the entry of demonstrators into the Capitol on January 6.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for those determining the needed security measures for members of Congress.
  • That the Lord would guide the House on the best course of action.
  • For members of both parties to work together to govern the nation.
