Established Purpose

Keep an eternal perspective

Job 42:2 – I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.

Choices have consequences. That is as true for the child caught with his hand in the cookie jar as it is for the voting public in the time of elections. Was the election free and fair? Did mistakes happen? Was there voter fraud? Did computer system software not receive correct updates? The delayed results on these and other things have led some Christians  to wonder how God’s purposes will be fulfilled, while others eagerly anticipate seeing how God will work for America’s best.  It is all a matter of perspective.

People change. Presidents change. Ideologies change. The world is in a constant state of change. But God does not change. He is still Lord over all creation. His Word endures forever. Throughout our lives we will have several different presidents in leadership over the nation, but Jesus is still King! Daniel 2:20-21 says, “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.” Difficult times can make it hard to see God’s purpose. Often, when things aren’t going our way, we don’t want to be reminded that God is still in control, working things for our good. However, if we change our perspective, if we live with the mindset that God is working for us and not against us, we will be better able to accept whatever comes next as coming from His hand and under His authority.

Pray With Us

Dear Heavenly Father, I know that your purposes are perfect. Nevertheless, I confess that I am often assailed by doubts and fears that may actually keep me from living out the purpose You have established for me…and for us in America. Keep me learning more of You through Your Word. Reveal more of Yourself to me. Let me then become bolder in standing for Your truth and Your righteous justice moving forward. Thank You for Your grace. It surpasses my understanding. In the Name of Jesus my King, Amen.

  • Ask God to reveal more of His purposes for you and for the whole Earth through His Word.
  • Confess when you have doubts, because God will give you faith in the midst of doubt.
  • Pray that He would help you hold onto an eternal perspective.
  • Ask God for wisdom and understanding to see how He is preparing you for what’s to come.
  • Pray that God will encourage and strengthen you when you’re feeling drained or you are under pressure.
  • Ask Him how He wants you to be a strategic part in working out His purposes within yourself, among your friends and your community, and as a citizen of the United States.
