The Southern Florida District U.S. Attorney’s Office announced that a man from Miami, Florida, pleaded guilty to three counts of transmitting death threats through interstate communications. The man posted a series of threats, in English and Spanish, against the lives of Secretary of State Marco Rubio and U.S. Special Envoy Kristi Noem on social media. The man faces up to five years in prison for each count.

“Threatening to execute public officials is not political speech, it is a federal crime,” said U.S. Attorney Jason Reding Quiñones for the Southern District of Florida. He added that the “guilty plea makes clear that those who attempt to terrorize public servants or intimidate them through threats of violence will be swiftly identified, prosecuted, and held accountable.”

The Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security led the investigation with support from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the City of Miami Police Department, and the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. Diplomatic Security.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for Attorney General Todd Blanche as he heads the Department of Justice.
  • For U.S. attorneys in their district nationwide as they seek to prosecute defendants for violating federal laws.
  • For God’s protection over the president, secretary of state, and all governing officials.
