Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
The Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Counsel released an opinion concluding that the U.S. Constitution requires executive control over the Foreign Service Grievance Board (FSGB). The Foreign Service Act of 1980 had allowed the FSGB to reverse terminations of members by the secretary of state. Assistant Attorney General Elliot Gaiser said, “Accountability for American foreign policy flows from the people to the foreign service through the President, our elected official charged by the Constitution to conduct foreign affairs, and his Secretary of State.”
Pray for wisdom for Secretary of State Rubio, Attorney General Blanche, and U.S. officials as they assess the administering of regulations according to Article II of the U.S. Constitution.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Representatives Kat Cammack of Florida and Teresa Leger Fernández of New Mexico are drafting legislation they intend to introduce in September to make changes to the way Congress handles allegations of sexual misconduct. The proposal would transform the way the House Ethics Committee identifies, investigates, and eradicates such accusations and streamline the process for the reporting of violations. House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries have reportedly supported this effort. Congressmen Eric Swalwell of California and Tony Gonzalez of Texas each resigned earlier this year after ethics investigations.
Pray for senators and representatives in Congress to be prudent as they evaluate the public safety implications of allowing nationwide concealed carry across state lines for special forces veterans.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
A bill to address wildfire risks, previously approved by the Senate Agriculture Committee, is gaining support as the threat of wildland fires has increased in 2026. The legislation would expand forest management, including prescribed burns and forest thinning. The measure would also streamline the environmental review of wildfire prevention projects. Senators John Curtis of Utah, Tim Sheehy of Montana, Alex Padilla of California, and John Hickenlooper of Colorado have joined in the effort to get the measure approved. The House of Representatives approved its version of the bill early last year.
Pray for chairs and members of committees as they review and vote on legislation to be presented to their entire chamber.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington has agreed to reopen a case of a marriage and family therapist who previously attempted to challenge a state law regarding counseling minors experiencing gender dysphoria. The 2018 state law prohibits counselors from helping youth accept their biological sex, which the plaintiff claimed censors speech, violating the First Amendment. The district court, which dismissed the case in 2021, agreed to hear it after the Supreme Court ruled in a similar case involving a Colorado state law that counseling conversations are protected speech.
Pray for federal judges as they assess challenges to state laws involving counseling for gender dysphoria in light of the First Amendment’s speech protections.
