President Donald Trump signed two new executive orders regarding birthright citizenship. The first order prohibits U.S. citizenship for babies born to members of foreign terrorist groups or employees of and ambassadors for foreign governments. The second removes automatic citizenship for babies whose parents engaged in “birth tourism.”
White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller said, “Section 215A of the Immigration and Nationality Act gives the president this authority… one of the strongest laws in the entire federal code.” He added, “It ends what has been one of the gravest and most egregious abuses of the American system, and it keeps American citizenship sacred.”
Assistant Secretary for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Wesley Brooks is concluding travel to India today. Assistant Secretary Brooks participated in a Business Roundtable on Critical Minerals Recycling and Recovery held by the US-India Business Council as part of the Critical Minerals Security Task Force.
U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor reported productive discussions with Assistant Secretary Brooks “on growing U.S.-India partnership in space, critical minerals, and environmental cooperation.
