Seven companies received letters from the FTC regarding the misrepresentation of their products’ origins.
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has issued warning letters to seven different companies over the potential misrepresentation of their products as “Made in the USA,” when they were apparently imported, in whole or in part. The companies in question sell a variety of products, including drums, industrial laser machinery, coordinate measuring machines, and e-cigarettes. This action aligns with President Trump’s March 2026 executive order directing the FTC to prioritize enforcement of “Made in USA” claims.
Director Christopher Mufarrige of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection stated, “When Americans spend their hard-earned dollars on goods marketed as ‘Made in the USA,’ they deserve to have confidence that these products were all or virtually all made in this country. We will hold accountable any company that undermines Americans’ trust with misleading or outright false U.S. origin claims.”
The commission’s action is intended to protect competition for American businesses.
